Custom Patches
Patch Type
Custom patches make great giveaways at promotional events. Choose your custom patch from our range:
Embroidered Patch
Do you want your patches to have a textured feel and your design to ‘pop’ out of the patch? Embroidered patches are what you need. These patches have a twill base on which a custom design is embroidered using threads. They can incorporate multiple colors to match your design.
Go for fully embroidered patches when:
Your design has lot of colors and high contrasts
Ideal for uniforms, jackets, hats and giveaways
Woven Patch
Woven patches use thinner threads that are woven tightly together, giving a smooth, non-raised texture. These can incorporate detailed, intricate designs and small text.
Pick woven patches when:
Your design is intricate and has lot of gradients and blends
Your design has lot of small text
You want a ‘’smooth” texture for your patches
Printed Patch
Printed patches involve printing a photograph, design or text on twill fabric. These patches can incorporate multiple colors, detailed designs and text. Printed patches are cheaper to make than embroidered and woven ones.
Choose printed patches when:
Your design has picture like effect. E.g. image of your brand logo, a landscape etc.
Your design has lots of complicated details
Bullion Patch
Bullion Patches are handmade patches crafted using gold and silver wire beads with inlaid silk, felt or velvet fabric. They are elegant patches used for making emblems for premium clubs, the armed forces, golf clubs, and more.
Border Cut Type
Your Patches need borders to ensure that they don’t fray or unravel. We offer two types of borders to keep your patches looking good.
Merrowed Border
Merrowed cuts are a thick uniform border using special overlockers (overstitching machines). These are applied after your custom design has been stitched on the patches and give a ‘’piped’’ look. Merrow borders are ideal for symmetrical shapes such as circle, oval, square and rectangle patches. Patches with merrow cut are more durable and have an aesthetic look.
Heat Cut Border
Heat cut gives a thin flat border to the outer edges of your custom patch using a hot knife or laser. These are ideal for die cut patches which may have jagged uneven edges. The color of the hot cut border matches the patch, because it is made of the same color thread. Hot cut borders are cheaper than merrow cut borders.
Backing Option
We offer three types of backing for your custom patch. Select from the options below:
Iron on Patch
You can attach iron on patches to your garment using a standard home iron. Iron on patches are durable and will remain adhered to your garment for many washes. Iron on backing doesn’t work well with nylon or synthetic fabrics. This is a fast and easy way to attach patches.
Plain Backing
The patches will have no backing over the stitching, showing the threads and twill at the back of the patch. Without backing, the patches are flexible and lightweight. This is ideal when you want to sew the patch to a garment or want to wear the patch temporarily with pins or clips.
Velcro
You can peel the patch off the Velcro strip and affix it to your garments. Easy to peel off, you can reuse the Velcro backing patch many times over. This style of backing is very durable.

2. What are custom patches typically used for?
Custom patches are used for a wide range of purposes — brand activation, corporate merchandise, military and armed forces uniforms, school and club insignia, charity fundraisers, event giveaways, and e-commerce merchandise. Product & Style
1. What types of custom patches do you offer?
We offer a wide range of patch types to suit different needs and aesthetics. Embroidered Patches have a textured, raised feel and are ideal for uniforms, jackets, and hats with multi-colour designs. Woven Patches use thinner threads woven tightly for a smooth, flat finish — great for intricate designs and small text. Printed Patches involve printing directly onto twill fabric and are the most economical option for complex, photo-like designs. Bullion Patches are handcrafted using gold and silver wire beads — an elegant choice for premium clubs, golf clubs, and armed forces emblems. We also offer Leather, PVC, and Chenille patches for clients with specific style requirements.
2. What is the difference between embroidered and woven patches?
Embroidered patches have a raised, textured feel created by stitching threads onto a twill base — making colours and designs pop visually. They work best for bold designs with high colour contrast. Woven patches use much finer threads woven tightly together for a smooth, flat surface. They are better suited for intricate designs, gradients, and small text that would be difficult to capture with embroidery. If you are unsure which is right for your design, describe your requirements when requesting a quote and we will advise accordingly.
3. Do you offer custom iron-on patches?
Yes. Iron-on patches are one of our most popular backing options. They can be attached to garments using a standard home iron — quickly and securely. Custom iron-on patches are durable, withstand multiple washes, and are a great choice for uniforms, jackets, and event merchandise. Please note that iron-on backing does not work well on nylon or synthetic fabrics.
4. Do you offer custom leather patches?
Yes, we offer custom leather patches made from PU leather or genuine leather. Leather patches have a stylish, premium look and are popular for fashion brands, bags, and high-end merchandise. As the design needs to be relatively simple with a limited number of colours, they work best for logos, monograms, and clean typographic designs. Leather patches are priced at a premium over embroidered and woven options.
5. What other special patch types do you offer?
Beyond the standard patch types, we also offer PVC or Rubber Patches — made from durable, flexible polyvinyl chloride that can incorporate complex, multi-colour designs and are completely fade and fray free. Chenille Patches are made from a fuzzy silk-cotton fabric and are popular for university lettering and varsity-style designs. Bullion Patches are handcrafted from gold and silver wire with inlaid silk or velvet, used for premium club emblems and military insignia.
6. What border options are available for patches?
We offer two border types. Merrowed Border is a thick, uniform stitched border that gives a clean "piped" look — ideal for symmetrical shapes like circles, ovals, squares, and rectangles. Heat Cut Border uses a hot knife or laser to seal the edges flat — ideal for die-cut patches with irregular or jagged shapes. Heat cut borders are the more economical option of the two.
7. What backing options are available?
We offer a comprehensive range of backing options — Iron-On, Plain (no backing), Velcro, Sticker Peel, Plastic, Pin, Button Loop, and Magnetic backing. Each serves a different purpose depending on how and where you plan to attach the patch. If you are unsure which backing to choose, our team will be happy to guide you.
